The Third Edition, first printing, featuring at the rear of the text the 14 photographic illustrations by Ulf Simonsson of the 1964 17th October premier of the production of the play by Marionetteatern, Stockholm in the costumes designed by Franciszka Themerson. In all other respects this is a scaled down version (6.5x4.5 inches) of the two earlier editions issued by the Gaberbocchus Press, including the 204 illustrations in the text on yellow paper by Franciszka Themerson. A fine copy in the original oatmeal cloth.

Dampstain along both boards at fore-edge, with slight bowing to front board; light dampstaining to pastedowns, occasional light foxing, else text unmarked; light edgewear and light foxing to toned jacket. Title page continued: Drama in 5 Acts by Alfred Jarry translated from the French by Barbara Wright with 2 portraits of the author by L. Lantier and F. A. Cazals and several drawings by Jarry and Pierre Bonnard printed in red on grey paper and 204 drawings by Franciszka Themerson doodled on litho plates and printed in black on yellow paper. All followed by The Song of the Disembraining by the same author and the same translator.

Original publishers black cloth rubbed along the bottom edges with the tips of the corners worn. The yellow front free endpaper has a small yellow price label affixed to the top right hand corner. Dustwrapper complete but for chip with loss to head of spine panel otherwise a firm, clean copy of the first printing of the English translation. Loosely enclosed is an advertisement for the list of publications of the Gaberbocchus press up to 1953 presented as a four leaf satirical letter to 'Lady Celia' with a line drawing endpiece of the Gaberbocchus by Franciska Themerson. This in near fine state with only very slight toning to the edges.
