Associazione Librai Antiquari d'Italia (ALAI)

Old and collectible book professionals since 1947

Thanks to its Code of Ethics and strict rules of admission, ALAI ensures absolute competence and expertise in the field of ancient books. Heirs to a centuries-old tradition, the associated booksellers contribute with scrupulous and passion to the preservation and enhancement of the Italian bibliographic heritage.

The only trade association existing in Italy, the ALAI is affiliated with the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB), a world-class federation that brings together 23 national associations, 32 countries and more than 1,600 specialized booksellers. Membership to the ILAB testifies to the international vocation of the associated booksellers and further contributes to certifying the integrity of all the proposed articles and the high professionalism of the bibliographic descriptions.

AbeBooks is proud that more than 50 ALAI member bookstores have decided to list their books on our platform and invites you to browse their catalogs! Buying from the ALAI member booksellers offers the following benefits:

  • Sales prices are set by intense research and professional calculation.
