Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Red leather-bound softcover with slipcase. No underlining or highlighting, pages clean and bright. Usual signs of general use, at edges of book and slip-case. Binding solid, sturdy. Gilt lettering, top edges of pages gilded as well. 254 pp. No date indicated, but most likely published in 1931, as the woodcut illustration on the page prior to the title page by Norman Hepple, is dated at 1931. Evidently somewhat of a scarce edition, as there does not seem to be any copies currently available, at least none that seem to fit its exact description. Seven plates of illustrations by E. Blampied. Original publishers quarter cloth binding in tan with blue sides, lettered gilt on blue at spine. Dust jacket features a line drawing of a Road Mender. /Edmund Blampied (1886Ð1966) was an artist from the Channel Islands, noted mostly for his etchings and drypoints published at the height of the print boom in the 1920s during the etching revival, but was also a lithographer, caricaturist, cartoonist, book illustrator and artist in oils, watercolours, silhouettes and bronze. Endpapers slightly tanned otherwise very good indeed. Sound dust jacket, chipped with 3 inch loss at spine, but protected by clear film covering.
