Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. ILLUSTRATED (illustrator). 1st Edition. NICE LOOKING GREEN BOOK WITH RED DESIGN FRONT AND SPINE. A CENTURY VAGABOND BOOK OF TRAVEL, FRONTISPIECE A PICTURE OF AN INDIAN NATIVE AND BABY, NO INTERNAL MARKINGS, TIGHT, A STORY OF MCGOVERN'S EXPEDITION, HISTORY AND THE INCAS. William Montgomery McGovern (September 28, 1897 ¿ December 12, 1964) was an American adventurer, Northwestern University professor, anthropologist and journalist. He was possibly an inspiration for the character of Indiana Jones. McGovern's life may be more incredible than the fictional character he spawned. By age 30, he had already explored the Amazon and braved uncharted regions of the Himalayas, survived revolution in Mexico, studied at Oxford and the Sorbonne and become a Buddhist priest in a Japanese monastery. He became a beloved lecturer, war correspondent and military strategist. The Inca society was the society of the Inca civilization in South America. The Inca Empire, which was centred in what is now Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and southern Colombia and lasted from 1438 to 1533 AD, represented the height of this civilization. ANTIQUE BOOKS DEN, WHERE INTERESTING BOOKS LIVE.
