First Edition of the AuthorÕs First Book. Signed and inscribed by the author, Wayne Warga to fellow writer William F. Nolan. Graciously inscribed: ÒFor Bill Nolan, For the pleasure of sitting by you this afternoon - and for the pleasure your work writing has given me these many years. As ever, Wayne Warga 4/6/86.Ó Fine in a fine dust jacket. William F. NolanÕs work is mostly in the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres, with perhaps his best known novel being ÔLoganÕs RunÕ which he co-authored with George Clayton Johnson and which was the basis of the film starring Michael York and Jenny Agutter and the television series. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the 1976 horror film ÔBurnt OfferingsÕ starring Karen Black and Bette Davis. His biographies and collections include ÔJohn Huston: King RebelÕ (1965), ÔHemingway: Last Days of the LionÕ (1974), ÔMcQueenÕ (1984), and ÔThe Black Mask BoysÕ (1985). He has received many literary awards, including ÔLiving Legend in Dark FantasyÕ by the International Horror Guild in 2002, twice winner of the Edgar Allan Poe Award from the Mystery Writers of America, and in 2006, he was received the honorary title of Author Emeritus by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Inc. The youngest editor at Life Magazine at age 25, Wayne Warga reported on John F. KennedyÕs race for the Presidency, and went on to cover the Civil Rights movement for the magazine. For many years, Warga was one of the leading writers at the Los Angeles Times where he did in depth articles and features on writers and people in the arts. Later, Warga became a mystery novelist, creating three well-received bibliomysteries: Hardcover, Fatal Impressions, and Singapore Transfer, featuring Los Angeles rare book dealer, Jeffrey Dean.
