The author, a British Jew, enlisted in Palestine in 1939, and this is his personal record of World War II. Promoted to command a Transport Unit of Jewish Palestinian volunteers in the Siege of Tobruk, the author describes the struggle to establish a place for these men. It was not until 1944 that Winston Churchill announced the formation of the Jewish Infantry Brigade Group which came face to face with the Panzer Division and participated in the final Allied breakthrough.
