Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good dj. Illustrated by (dj design) Ben Feder, Inc. (illustrator). First Edition. [solid, clean copy, with only minor shelfwear to book; jacket has quite a bit of edgewear, with various small nicks and tears, tiny bits of paper loss at several corners, a ragged tear at top left corner of front panel (internally tape-repaired) with much associated creasing]. (B&W photographs) Basically an extended interview with director George Cukor, which began life as an American Film Institute oral history project; unlike some of those interviews, this one benefits from the participation of an intelligent, well-informed interviewer (who also happened to be a pretty terrific writer himself). The book's acknowledgments state that "the original tapes [of the interview] are now in the institute's library." Wonder if they can find them, nowadays? ****NOTE that properly packaged (in a box) this book will weigh slightly more than two pounds; therefore, an additional shipping charge will be assessed for international shipping, or for Priority Mail service to U.S. destinations. If this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order.****.

There is no institution in the world quite comparable. But it also offers a mirror in which much of English history may be seen--not only the executions of famous personages, but coronation processions, comic episodes like Colonel Blood's attempt to steal the Crown and Crown Jewels.A.L.
