Book
Buch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - Early plans for the Whitechapel Library included provision for an unrealised weathervane. Over a century later this original intention has been achieved through Rodney Graham's Erasmus Weathervane - a glittering addition to the London skyline. This publication celebrates the inauguration of Graham's weathervane on the cupola of the Whitechapel Gallery's roof. Rodney Graham was born in 1949 in Canada and lives and works in Vancouver. He has continually worked across different mediums including photography, sculpture and installation as well as music, film, performance and writing and his work has taken the form of architectural models, books, camera obscuras, wallpaper and musical scores.

Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. 1st Edition. A pristine, collectible book by Robert Walse, translated by Susan Bernofsky. "The incredible shrinking writer is a major 20th-century prose artist who, for all that the modern world seems to have passed him by, fulfills the modern criterion: He sounds like nobody else" (The New Yorker Magazine) . "One of the profoundest products of modern literature" (Walter Benjamin) . An absolute "must-have" title for Robert Walser collectors. Robert Walser wrote many of his manuscripts in a highly enigmatic, shrunken-down form. These narrow strips of paper, covered with tiny ant-like pencil markings a millimeter high, came to light only after the author's death in 1956.At first considered random restless pencil markings or a secret code, the microscripts were in time discovered to be a radically miniaturized form of antique German script: a whole story was deciphered on the back of a business card. These twenty-five short pieces address schnapps, rotten husbands, small town life, elegant jaunts, the radio, swine, jealousy, and marriage proposals.

8vo. (225 x 140 mm). pp. 24. Publisher's full imitation leather binding with gilt star tooling along length of spine. With printed dust-jacket. Rodney Graham's gnomic artist book repurposing Freud. From the edition limited to 100 copies, signed and numbered by Rodney Graham in pencil on the inside rear cover. 'This book contains a facsimile of the 13th binding section or signature of volume IV (The Interpretation of Dreams, part one) of the Standard Edition of the Complete Psychological Works of Sigmund Freud . into which two additional folio sheets - 8 pages - have been folded (diagram of binding sequence of pages reproduced on front of dust-jacket) . The first four of these additional pages are blank, while the second four, numbered 170a to 170d, have been fitted with a text devised by the artist and set in a typeface and format replicating that of the Standard Edition . The supplement interrupts Freud in mid-sentence and carries his line of thought elsewhere introducing new associative material to Freud's analysis of his own so-called Botanical Monograph Dream of March, 1898.' (from printed dust-jacket notes). [See 'Rodney Graham. Works from 1976 to 1994' - no. 8.6.3.2, & reproduced pp. 124 - 130].
