CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: An import contribution, made better with the additional information provided by the historian of early Louisiana Territory, Abraham Nasatir. Lisa was a major figure in the history of exploration and trade on the Upper Missouri in the early 1800's. Lisa arrived in St. Louis in 1790 and entered the fur trade in 1807 and formed the Missouri Fur Company the following year. Much new material added for this edition; 88 pgs of editorial notes, makes corrections to the original text, and prints longer accounts from original documents; making this the preferred edition over the original Douglas work published in 1911.
