Book has recipes and was used as a cookbook. Book carefully read and stored with square corners. Author was the son of the famous horticulturist, Louise Beebe Wilder. Stories and experiences with his Grandfather shows where this interest in plants and harvesting wild foods was developed in both daughter and grandson.

The author's grandfather maintained that a person could be well fed, sheltered and clothed with what they could find foraging on the wayside and in the woods and forests. This is the story of that foraging, recipes with what you can find, and, a gentle memory of a distant time. Softening and a little rubbing of the back strip edges rubbing of the book corners. Uniform light tanning of the text block edges and age toning of the pages. A previous owner has made some pencil notes in the text and a almost complete page of notes to the panel from end page. There has been some bleeding of the top edge of tint to the top page edge. Chipping of the dustwrapper corner and back strip corners. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with sunning of the back strip stop the rear panel shows handling marks and also results of insect damage  please see photograph.
