Copiously illustrated with 350 drawings from Russell and others, several Russell paintings in color with captioned tissue guards, and b&w photo reproductions. Green publisher's cloth, titles stamped in gilt on the cover and spine, illustration mounted to the cover in gilt stamped frame, gilt tops, illustrated endpapers, title page in red and black, chapter heads with illustrations and decorative initial caps. Boards scuffed and stained, edges rubbed, hinges starting, fore-edge and a few leaves lightly soiled, former owner ink signature on the title page. Memoirs of Western pioneer Carrie Adell Green "Dell" Strahorn (1854-1925), who married Union Pacific Railroad publicist Robert E. Strahorn. The couple were instrumental in the settling of Idaho and the Pacific Northwest through promotional writing, railroad ventures and land speculation. Many of these pages originated as newspaper articles, gathered and edited in their luxurious Spokane mansion where she hosted grand receptions for business and civic society.

There is some corner bumping and edge wear. Text has slightly yellowed, clean and very solid in it's binding. Illustrations throughout, photographs and drawings. Author photo frontispiece with tissue. Color renderings bu Russell also have protective tissues. Upper edge of spine has a small tear about center of the cloth. Front board illustration has a small chip and crease on the side nearest the spine. A very interesting book about her life in the old west. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
