Book
Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Hardcover, with dust jacket. 8vo (5.75 x 8.25 in.) Blue cloth over boards, stamped gilt Modern Library logo on front. Stamped gilt titles on spine. Cloth is clean, free of nicks. Exposure to sunlight has left jacket titling "ghost" images on spine and front cover. Same sunlight has removed color stripes from spine but titling is still good. Front hinge stressed a little at title page. Rear hinge is solid. Pages are clean and a nice off-white in shade. Top-stained black. The jacket is beige with deep pink and black elements. Mostly clean though showing age. Two small separations along top and one small paper piece missing. Reverse of jacket contains a listing of all Modern Library titles at the time of printing. This title was released in Spring, 1932. The most recent Giant title listed on jacket is Spring, 1935, making this a later printing. Also known as "Parallel Lives" , this is a complete, unabridged text of Plutarch's work as translated by John Dryden in the 17th century. This text is one revised by Arthur Hugh Clough in 1864 and contains his original introduction to that revision. A volume hard to find, here in good condition.
