Pale binding shows the dust of its age, otherwise about Very Good hardcover, no dustwrapper. A modern "business" romance about a struggling then successful restaurateur, but with Arthurian parallels. The author was a regular contributor to pulp magazines of the 1920s.

Victor MacClure is reportedly the pen name of Thom MacWalter. The S-F Encyclopedia reports that MacWalter's only novel is THE ARK OF THE COVENANT ( 1924 ). WorldCat credits MacClure with other fiction and non-fiction. He also appears to have drawn the art work for this dust jacket in 1925. This first appeared in England as THE BOOST OF THE GOLDEN SNAIL, the published in Indianapolis as THE GOLDEN SNAIL. This appears here as The Modern Reprint Library series, which featured authors such as Ronald Knox, C. S. Forester, Anthony Berkeley, and de Vere Stacpoole.
