Hard cover. First edition. Stated First. 128 p. Red cloth over boards. Black spine titles. Green and red jacket w/ white titles. Deckled right page block. Reviewed by novelist and critic Helen Hull as having "freshness and originality.charm, sharp humor" as well as the simplicity of warmth without "the usual sentimentality". Hull felt the short novel achieved the unlikely in an era of the mid-20th century which, as now, was glutted with Christmas-themed fiction. Lead character Brother Angelo, while happy with his kitchen chores at his monastery, he was called "to bring people's hearts to the realization of Christmas". Thus he scrubbed a tenement house floor, pitched in at a deli, turned hand springs, taught a child how to ice skate, and gave his shoes to a man seeking a job. Author Rosalie Lieberman also had penned "Heaven is So High", many short stories, and editorial work for motion pictures. Very good in very good dust jacket. Near fine book w/ slight damp stain at lower spine. Light scuffing to jacket edges and folds. Tightly bound, clean inside. 1.
