Oversized Hardcover. Condition: Good. More than 100 knockout images by longtime Garden photographer George Kalinsky capture all the glorious highlights in the arena's history. From Ali to Sinatra, Garland to Gretzky, Kalinsky has shot the greatest. Adding insight and context to the photos are essays by 25 luminaries who have witnessed or participated in some of these legendary Garden events. The list of contributors includes Billy Crystal, Bill Bradley, Woody Allen, Peggy Fleming, Spike Lee, John McEnroe, Mary Tyler Moore, and Christopher Reeve. Pete Hamill's introduction recounts the Garden's storied past, and reminds readers why MSG evokes such powerful emotions for New York residents and visitors alike.

Hardcover. Kalinsky, George (Photographer) (illustrator). viii, [2], 352, [4] p. Illustrations. Bibliography. The New York Knickerbockers, commonly referred to as the Knicks, are an American professional basketball team based in New York City. Along with the Boston Celtics, the Knicks are one of only two original NBA teams still located in its original city. It was not until the late 1960s when Red Holzman became head coach that the Knicks began to regain their former dominance. Holzman successfully guided the Knicks to two NBA championships, in 1970 and 1973. The Knicks of the 1980s had mixed success that included six playoff appearances; however, they failed to participate in the NBA Finals. The playoff-level Knicks of the 1990s were led by future Hall of Fame center Patrick Ewing; this era was marked by rivalries with the Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, and Miami Heat. During this time, they were known for playing tough defense under head coaches Pat Riley and Jeff Van Gundy. Since 2000, the Knicks have struggled to regain their former glory. Hardcover. Condition: Very good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very good. George Kalinsky (Jacket Photograph) (illustrator). xv, 364, [2] pages. Index. Signed by author. Autographed sticker on front of DJ. William Warren Bradley (born July 28, 1943) is an American politician and former professional basketball player. He served three terms as a Democratic U.S. Senator from New Jersey. He ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic Party's nomination for president in the 2000 election. Bradley is the author of seven non-fiction books, most recently We Can All Do Better, and hosts a weekly radio show, American Voices, on Sirius Satellite Radio. He is a corporate director of Starbucks and a partner at investment bank Allen & Company in New York City. Bradley is a member of the ReFormers Caucus of Issue One.[1] He also serves on that group's Advisory Board. In 2008 Bradley was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame Writing from his own experience in politics and drawing on his knowledge of history, Bradley shows how the Republican Party has built a solid pyramid structure since the 1970s, at the base of which are money, ideas, and media, whereas the Democratic Party's structure is an inverted pyramid, with too much emphasis put on the need for a charismatic leader to hold the pyramid up. This informed and inspiring call to action is addressed not only to the parties and elected leaders, but to citizens as well. Bradley proposes things every American can do to shape our nation's future. He points out that if eighty percent of the electorate voted, instead of fifty percent, it would be the most important change in American politics since women got the vote. He says we need to embrace an "ethic of connectedness," a combination of collective action and individual responsibility, to solve our nation's most pressing problems. Writing today with the freedom of a private citizen, Bradley provides this transformative and eye-opening book about the danger and the promise of America's choice at this crucial moment in the nation's history. Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Kalinsky, George (special photography) (illustrator). 1st Edition. Fine condition beige boards with black front cover and spine lettering contained in a very good condition non price-clipped color photographic dust jacket. Includes List of Other Book(s) by Joe Jares; Author Dedication; Epilogue; Walt Frazier's Career Statistics; Frazier Honors; and Walt Frazier's Greatest College and Pro Games. Illustrated with a section of black-and-white photographic plates. "Clyde. Knick teammates first blessed Walt Frazier with the handle. Like the notorious Clyde of crime, Walt is cool. His off-court dress is one example. His on-court ball hawking and stealing is another. His direction of the Knicks' scoring machine is a third. Now, in this book, Clyde talks about the beginning - his childhood, when he developed his enormous talents; his troubled years at Southern Illinois, when that team won their only National Invitation Tournament Championship the early years with the Knicks. Unlike the other Clyde, Walt talks honestly - about the old Knicks and the new, about McGuire and Holzman, Bradley and DeBusschere, Captain Willis and the louacious Cazzie. And he talks about the various offenses and defenses in the NBA, the great players' weaknesses, the secret to defense and stealing. Finally, Clyde tells about the great Knick drive to the championship, the fabulous Bradley offensive plan and the inspirational comeback of Willis Reed. It was pro basketball's finest moment of the year. It's told by one of pro basketball's finest players - as he saw it." - from the inner front and rear jacket flaps.
