ISAAC ASIMOV depicts an electronic world where Nature is forgotten--until one day, quite by accident, a little boy strays outdoors.and the old, wild ways surge in. RAY BRADBURY tells of a family on Mars in a story that reaches into the past and the future to touch the deepest racial instincts behind the drive toward space. GERALD KERSH asks for information concerning an army corporal who bears on his body the scars of a hundred wars--and in his blood the secret of immortality. RICHARD MATHESON explores the feverish lives of tomorrow's adolescents--when sex and speed mix at 130 m.p.h., and the big thrill sensation is the strange Dance of Death. And other outstanding authors--Arthur C. Clarke, Lester del Rey, Chad Oliver among them--meet here in Star Science Fiction Stories No. 3 to bring you the sometimes shocking, sometimes amusing--always unexpected--experience of tomorrow. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. John Berkey (illustrator). 1st Edition. Nelson Doubleday, Garden City, 1975. First Edition/Printing blue Hardcover, white printing on spine, octavo, with DJ, 306 pp. SIGNED by Fred Pohl on ffep. This does not say first edition on copyright page, but Gerry de la Ree, who was always scrupulously honest with me, told me it was a first (indicated by code "Q6" at bottom right of last page) and that this copy was from Pohl's own library when I purchased it from Gerry in October, 1981. Introduction by editor Lester del Rey, Afterword with interesting notes on the story selections by Pohl. Contains 19 stories The DJ is very good but has edge wear at spine bottom and is clipped at top & bottom of front flap (probably noted SF Book Club which issued this) - clean bright DJ, no tears, smudges. The book is very good/near fine has my name-stamp near top of ffep & barely visible bump at top right back cover. Signed by Author(s).
