After graduating from Harvard, he served as a Communications Officer in the Army Air Corps. He lived in New York city for a time and was later named the 11th poet laureate of Alabama before passing away in 2016.

A fine copy in quarter-backed black cloth and green paper-covered boards in a very good dustwrapper with light edgewear, a few scuffs, several small tears at the top of the spine and a touch of water stain to the rear panel. Glaze was associated with the Civil Rights Movement and was an aggressive poet. Damned Ugly Children was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and named a Notable Book by the American Library Association. He attended Harvard and was at Stanford University for a time. He was friendly with the National Book Award winner, John Williams, who wrote Augustus as well as two other classics, Stoner and Butcher's Crossing. Glaze inscribed this book to Williams, "To John with kindest memories of Breadloaf. Andrew Glaze.". Signed by Author(s).
