Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Alexander Alexeieff (illustrator). 26x20cm, 68pp. With ten monochrome aquatints by Alexandre Alexeieff. Copy 229 of 325 (365) printed on Pannekoek paper, bound in full dark green cloth over boards, gilt device to the upper board, gilt title to backstrip. Handsome English edition from Stols of the classic tale, printed letterpress in a large face of Fleischman's roman type from Enschede en Zonen. The aquatints are an unusual choice to illustrate a press book, but most effective. Alexeieff is perhaps better known in the English fine printing world as the illustrator of the Cresset Press's 'Diary of a Madman' of 1929. Very Good - slight dulling to backstrip, small rubs to extremities, some offset from the frontispiece illustration to the title page, with the small discreet blind-embossed stamp of Dr Trevor Weston to the corner of the rear endpaper.
