First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good +. Presumed First. Map of central London at front and back, several charming advertisments. The cloth spine is very slightly worn. 134pp, xiv. A Charming description of Soho in the late 1940's. A quote: 'Despite its title, this little book is not intended to grace those Charing Cross Road shops which specialise in rejuvenating old men and assisting reckless young women to sabotage the stork. The author is merely recounting his experiences; as he says, it is a personal record of a slum district teeming with good hide-outs where it is still possible to live cheaply and men can meet and discuss business in quiet café bars without being noticed . He describes restaurants, clubs and joints, wide boys, the ghetto aspect etc.
