The Seattle eventually returned to the Seattle-Bremerton route but was decommissioned in 1939 with the rising popularity of traveling by auto ferry. The Seattle was partially scrapped that same year down to the hull. However, the ship was still used as a barge until 1968 and also functioned as a floating cannery in 1946. After its final decommission, the Seattle ended up on a beach when it broke from its moorings. What remained of the ship was planned for dismantlement in summer 2020.

The Alaska Steamship Company carried both passengers and freight but stopped passenger services in 1954 after the construction of the Alaska Highway. Sawyer's was founded by Carleton Sawyer and A. R. Specht in 1914 and was based in Portland, Oregon. The history of Sawyer's goes back to 1911 when Sawyer made his signature "Sawyer's Scenic Photos," which were produced until 1917. Sawyer's began as a photo-finishing company but eventually expanded its services and products to include slides and slide projectors, View-Master reels and viewers, postcards, and greeting cards. Sawyer's enjoyed much success and profited greatly from its lineup of the innovative 3D stereoscopic viewer, the View-Master, postcards, and greeting cards. During the 1920s, Sawyer's was the most prominent producer of postcards in the United States. During the late 1930s and early 1940s, Sawyer's most profitable line shifted from postcards to View-Master products after the View-Master viewer debuted in 1939 at the New York World's Fair. Sawyer's remained in business until 1966 when it was acquired by the General Aniline & Film Corporation (GAF).

"DOPS" stamp box printed on the back was used from 1925-1942. Postcard is unused. Postcard is very clean and intact overall but has slight age toning along the edges on the front, a faint fingerprint in the upper-right corner on front, and slight corner and edge wear. A Very Good copy. The imprint of "Sanborn" and "X-900" are printed in the lower-right corner on the image. This is the imprint of Harold Sanborn, a photographer and publisher of postcards who was active from about 1920-1960. Sanborn's postcards can be recognized by his diagonal signature followed by a letter and nuimber. Sanborn is notable for being one of the most prolific photographers who took pictures of Colorado and Wyoming. His immense portfolio provides detailed documentation of places and daily life in the region at the time. Sanborn's postcards are highly collectable, in part, due to how many postcards he produced as well as the meticulous records he kept of both his postcards and negatives. In addition to photography, Sanborn was known for his love of trains. This postcard is a good example of his interests as it showcases a streamliner about to travel on an overpass spanning a curving highway. It should be noted that while the imprint of "Sanborn" is on the postcard, there is documentation that says the "X" series of his postcards actually featured images taken by other photographers that were subsequently printed by his studio.

A brief inscription in blue pen is on the back dated August 8, 1946. Postcard is unused. Postcard is virtually pristine and intact. A Fine copy. This postcard shows one of the trams on the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway in New Hampshire as it carries passengers. A crowd of people watch the tram. Back caption: "The 27-passenger tram car enters the Valley Station completing the mile long trip from the summit of Cannon Mountain in less than seven minutes." The Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway was the first aerial tramway built in the United States. The concept of the tramway came from Alexander Bright, an Olympic skier. In 1933, Bright made a trip to Europe as a member of the U.S. Olympic Ski Team. On his trip, he was inspired by the European tramways and thought the idea could gain traction in the U.S. That same year, surveys were completed of Franconia Notch in New Hampshire by L. R. Batemen, E. J. Lloyd, and Roland E. Peabody. Roland E. Peabody (1896-1950) is also named as the photographer on this postcard, and he became the managing director of the tramway. Cannon Mountain was deemed to be the best place to build a tramway because the least amount of forest would have to be cleared on that route. The Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway was completed in 1938 and remained open until 1980 when another renovated tramway was completed that year.
