This postcard shows a flock of swans and other waterfowl gathering around a family who are presumably feeding them near a pond in Beacon Hill Park, Victoria, British Columbia (BC). Beacon Hill Park is a municipal park that was founded in 1882. Its name comes from a small hill in the park overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca that once had navigational beacons. Beacon Hill Park remains a public park to this day and is popular among tourists and locals alike.

This postcard shows the Parliament Buildings in Victoria, British Columbia. Gowen & Stevens was a photography studio founded in 1916 by Frank Gowen and Sidney Stevens of Vancouver, B.C. From 1919-1920, the studio operated as the Frank Gowen Company. Alfred Sutton had been a shareholder and business partner in the Frank Gowen Company and continued to do so when the studio was renamed the Gowen Sutton Company in 1920. In 1930, Gowen sold his shares to Sutton. The Gowen Sutton Company kept its name after Gowen left, and the studio remained in business until 1987.

Postcard is virtually pristine and intact. A Fine copy. This postcard shows a scenic view of the Jasper Park Lodge bungalows in Alberta, Canada. Mountains are visible in the background. Harry Rowed (1907-1987) was a Canadian photojournalist. He specialized in both editorial and commercial photography. One of Canada's most celebrated photographers, Rowed was also among the most prolific in the country. His career spanned from the late 1930s to the 1970s. His photographs featured a diverse range of subjects from portraits and landscapes to city scenes and aerial views. In addition to local scenes from Canada, Rowed also visited other locations to portray in his photos, including Greece, Mexico, Portugal, the South Pacific, Spain, and the United States.

Byron "Ron" Harmon (1876-1942) was a noted Canadian photographer whose studio was based in Banff, Canada. Harmon was also a Rotary Club member, founded Banff's Board of Trade, and served in municipal government. There are over 6500 photographs in his collection. Many of his photographs depict life and scenes in the Canadian Rockies.

This postcard shows three women, a man, and a child standing on the Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver, British Columbia. The bridge was built in 1889 by George Grant Mackay, a Scott civil engineer and Vancouver park commissioner. The bridge has since undergone renovations and is now part of the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park which is still open to this day. Postmark year is partially obscured. 5 1/2" x 3 1/2." Title printed at the bottom of the image. "F. H. Leslie, Limited, Niagara Falls" printed on the back. A red, two-cent King George V stamp is tipped in on the back. Postcard is used. Postcard is very clean and intact except for slight surface wear. A Very Good copy. This postcard shows the steamer, Maid of the Mist, on a boating tour of the same name. The Maid of the Mist boat tour features a round trip from the United States and back, briefly crossing into Ontario, to view Niagara Falls. On the postcard, the Ontario flag is visible at the boat's prow; the American flag at the stern. The first Maid of the Mist offered a ferry service between the U.S. and Canada and began its run in 1846. Following the construction of a suspension bridge between the U.S. and Canada in1848, the owners of Maid of the Mist diverted its service to sightseeing tours. The Maid of the Mist boat tour is still available to this day. There is handwriting in black ink on the back. Margaret addresses Fred Thibodeau and May (Thibodeau?) in Sterling, Colorado. Margaret writes, "Dear Fred & May, The Falls are to me very wonderful. [Am west?] on the Canadian side - Lots of Love, Margaret." Frank Howard Leslie (1876-1969) was a printer and distributor of postcards. He began his career as a teacher. He later became a principal before venturing into the publishing industry. When he became a publisher, Leslie purchased several local newspapers including the Tavistock Gazette, the Niagara Falls Review, and the Niagara Falls Record. Leslie eventually shifted his career toward the publication of postcards. He also took some of the photographs featured on the postcards after the photographer he worked with, Maurice Gonder, passed away.

Postcard is very clean and intact except for slight discoloration on the image. A Very Good copy. This postcard shows the SS Princess Alice with a scenic landscape in the background. The SS Princess Alice was a passenger cruise ship that was built in 1911 by the shipbuilding company, Swan Hunter. It was part of the Canada Pacific Railway (CPR)'s "Princess fleet," which were passenger ships with "Princess" in their title. The Princess Alice was eventually sold to Typaldos Lines in 1949 after which it was named the SS Aegaeon. The ship went out of service in 1966 after it was wrecked in tow in Civitavecchia. There is handwriting on back in blue ink. The writer talks about leaving Victoria, B.C. on September 26 at 4:30 p.m. and arriving at Seattle, Washington at 9:50 p.m. They also write briefly about how the sun is "shining brightly." A Near Fine copy. There is handwriting on the back in blue pen. The writer addresses Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Pitney in Junction City, Oregon and talks about their trip in Canada. They write about the nice weather ("No rain, lots of sunshine"), "good highways," and their impression of London, Ontario, where they stayed the night before. They say that London was "[n]ot much different from an old American town." This postcard shows a group of people on a balcony overlooking the fish pool and courtyard at the Oakes Garden Theatre in Niagara Falls, Canada. Oakes Garden Theatre is an amphitheater that opened in 1937 at the north end of Queen Victoria Park. The land upon which the amphitheater is built was donated by Sir Harry Oakes, 1st Baronet (1874-1943), a mine owner, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, to the Niagara Parks Commission in 1936. The landscape architecture of Oakes Garden Theatre was designed by Howard and Lorrie Dunington-Grubb. The building architecture was designed by William Lyon Somerville. Florence Wyle, Frances Loring, and Elizabeth Wyn Wood made the sculptures. Frank Howard Leslie (1876-1969) was a Canadian printer and distributor of postcards, educator, and entrepreneur. He began his career as a teacher and principal. He later purchased local newspaper companies including the Tavistock Gazette, the Niagara Falls Review, the Niagara Falls Record, and the Evening Review. Many of his postcards show views of Niagara Falls and surrounding areas.
