First Edition. THE NAKED SUN, Doubleday, 1957, first edition, publishers special embossed logo at the lower fore edge section of the front board, else a bright vg+/near fine copy in like reprint dust-wrapper. Elijah Baley #2. Never common. Now quite scarce. (A most curious volume being unequivocally the first printing of the first edition with a slight misbind that has caused the front board to be a bit longer than the rear board. Hence the publishers special embossed logo noting the problem as a defect and also in all likelihood why a bookclub edition dust-wrapper is it's companion. Probably sold at direct discount by the publisher via one of the Doubleday retail outlets. Possibly the perfect copy to place in a fine binding for those so inclined).

"A millennium into the future two advancements have altered the course of human history: the colonization of the galaxy and the creation of the positronic brain. Isaac Asimov's Robot novels chronicle the unlikely partnership between a New York City detective & a humanoid robot who must learn to work together. Like most people left behind on an over-populated Earth, New York City police detective Elijah Baley had little love for either the arrogant Spacers or their robotic companions. But when a prominent Spacer is murdered under mysterious circumstances, Baley is ordered to the Outer Worlds to help track down the killer. The relationship between Elijah Baley & his Spacer superiors, who distrusted all Earthmen, was strained from the start. Then he learned that they had assigned him a partner: R. Daneel Olivaw. Worst of all was that the "R" stood for robot & his positronic partner was made in the image & likeness of the murder victim!" Books are: R.
