Did William Combe "Dr. Syntax" ghost write John Hunter's "A practical treatise on the diseases of the teeth [1778] ? You decide, after rerading Hamilton's article which is as scholarly in its way as is "The Road to Xanadu". Hamilton later published a biography of Combe: "Doctor Syntax; a silhouette of William Combe, Esq. (1742-1823). Kent State University Press, 1969." This offprint is a scarce item, especially as a presentation copy. Seller Inventory # ABE-62312653
