Slight edge wear, lower left back cover corner of La Fontaine volume has a small chip. Volumes are housed in a 2 1/8 in. x 3 1/8 in. book-shaped slipcase with olive-brown polished calf spine with gilt title between lines & richly gilt floral design; sides, top & bottom covered with marbled paper; indigo on lighter blue background; minor edge wear, fading to top & bottom marbled paper. Overall, a near fine set; rare to find the six together & in the original case. Finely printed & illustrated set of French miniature children's books with stories & verses drawn from classic authors, published by Marcilly & printed by Firmin Didot. Gumuchian 4062; Welsh 1250.
