DJ is full clear plastic jacket containing printed front and front flap, but does not cover the spine or back . It is exactly as the publisher intended. The book is a Library of Congress duplicate, with markings on the ffep and copyright page only. It never circulated. Two signatures at the back of the book were printed on a different paper stock than the rest, and are less white, but still appear as they did when the book was new. Top edge gilt. 30 b/w plates. Barest trace of wear to head and tail of spine and corners.Cloth is strong green, unfaded; gilt is bright. Text block is clean and fresh, unmarked. Previous owner's name on ffep, dated Christmas 1913 (although issue date is given on title page as 1914!). The only notable defect is two sets of pinholes in the front free endpaper, where something was once pinned to the page. No evidence remains as to what this was. There is NO foxing, NO underlining, NO toning or browning. Binding is tight and square. All in all, a very handsome copy. Seller Inventory # SJ00401

Book Description: Hardcover. Condition: Very Good +. Limited Edition. Vol I: lviii + 466pp; Vol II: 486 pp; Vol III: 473 pp. Olive-brown cloth, red morocco spine labels with gilt titles. Spines uniformly faded to mid-brown; labels fine, still bright except Vol I, which shows mild rubbing to gilt (leather is still fine). Bindings all solid and tight, hinges as new, interior condition fine or better. Pages unmarked. Slipcase is present, but is rubbed, faded, and some joints are cracked. It has been repaired with non-yellowing book tape [3M], and so is very serviceable, but no longer particularly handsome. Still, overall a VG++ set in a Good slipcase. Seller Inventory # SJ01031
