About this title
This comprehensive reference guide identifies and solves thousands of landscape problems in a moment's glance--whether it is a disease, insect pest, animal pest, or maybe a nutrient deficiency.
From Library Journal:This follows the format and approach of Rodale's Garden Problem Solver ( LJ 6/1/88), which focused on fruits and vegetables. Here Ball looks at trees, shrubs, lawns, and other landscape plants. The most popular varieties are described, and detailed care requirements are provided. Common cultivation problems and pests and diseases that afflict these plants are covered. Emphasis is on prevention and on using natural and organic controls rather than more toxic insecticides. Some suggestions, like handpicking insects off plants, are labor intensive, while others rely on the use of biological controls. The second half of the book looks at each pest and disease separately and gives more detailed advice on controlling and preventing problems. This is a good alternative for gardeners trying to avoid more powerful chemicals.
