Predicting the future is a notoriously precarious, profitable and even dangerous business. This book takes a look at the most interesting, important and influential futurists over the years; from Delphi's virgin visionaries, to pop futurists, science fiction writers, trend gurus and evolutionary experts.

From the Publisher:
Rich with detail and anecdote, A Brief History of the Future is a unique and fascinating book that looks behind the scenes at how tomorrow's trends are being identified, `made' and marketed today
From the Author:
In my research I discovered many weird and wonderful people who wrote about the future over the years - some of them were completely and utterly wrong, and some wonderfully and brilliantly right. Interestingly many of them also fell into the so-called futurists monkey trap - predicting things that they thought would help them or please their own peccadillos. Some were more altruistic and thought about the good of the world. I also give an insight into my own experience working in trend and future research, as well as a chapter on a more famous futurist entitled "A week in the life of a futurist".
