Utah is a land of untamed beauty. From the snowy peaks of the Wasatch Mountains to the brilliant red rocks of Southern Utah, the state boasts views and vistas found nowhere else in the nation. Travelers can glean a great amount of history from the scenes they see and the places they visit, yet there are other stories and legends that belong to Utah and her native land - tales that are not often told. Saltair was once the premier resort on the shores of the Great Salt Lake. Now it lies abandoned and in disrepair, almost mythical in appearance. Mount Timpanogos's unique shape subtly speaks the story of Utahna and the Indian brave who loved her. And not so long ago, the Anasazi Indians were a thriving people, destined for greatness - until they disappeared into the canyons from which they'd carved their civilization, leaving no clues as to their whereabouts. For young and old alike, Lost Landscapes will pique interest and raise questions to the mysteries lurking within Utah's borders. Whether it be the unsolved riddles of places, people, puzzling objects, or legends that have been passed down through the generations, everyone will find something that will have them eagerly turning to the next page.

About the Author:
Linda Dunning has taught school for thirty-two years and has gone to school herself for approximately twenty-two of those years. She has taught children ranging from severely handicapped to resource to gifted and talented. As a writer, Dunning has always searched for that perfect story. She has won several Utah Arts Council writing awards: first place short story in 1980, honorable mention for a collection of short stories in 1987, second place non-fiction book in 1992, and first place autobiography book in 1995. For the last twelve years, she has been on a quest to gather stories about the strange, weird, and ghostly happenings of Utah before they are lost forever. She is also the author of Specters in Doorways, and she contributed to the book Weird U.S. She is presently working on two books: Haunted Dance Halls, Amusement Parks and Theatres of Utah and Early Stage and Screen Stars from Utah. For the last eighteen years, Dunning has done intuitive readings to help those searching for a spiritual path. In her mother- daughter memoir, Light on a Sensitive Surface, Dunning investigates this spiritual journey that she and her mother shared. Dunning and her husband, John, live in Salt Lake City with all of their animals.
