About the Author:

LOWELL THOMAS was a longtime broadcaster for CBS radio, and the author over fifty books, including With Lawrence in Arabia. He launched Cinerama, the first wide screen motion picture technique that revolutionized the motion picture industry. He also was widely known as a globe trotter and was among the first to travel in and write about Afghanistan and other countries.

LOWELL THOMAS JR. has taken part in some twenty expeditions. He is a mountaineer, a bush and glacier pilot, author, motion picture producer, and active in political affairs.
