About the Author:
Mary Mourar, MLS Mourar is a healthcare information professional, freelance writer, and developmental editor. While working for MGMA for more than 11 years as a librarian and information specialist in the Information Center, Mary assisted MGMA members and staff with a plethora of medical practice management questions, addressing current trends and issues across the healthcare industry. She received a master s degree in library science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a bachelor of arts from The Colorado College. Cindy L. Dunn, RN, FACMPE, independent consultant, MGMA Health Care Consulting Group, Cocoa Beach, Fla. Dunn has 34 years of experience in healthcare, including 25 years in management, 18 as the administrator of two medical private practices, and 6 years in nursing management for a hospital-owned physician practice. He is a certified professional in electronic health records (CPEHR) and health information technology (CPHIT). Rosemarie Nelson, MS, principal consultant, MGMA Health Care Consulting Group, Syracuse, NY Nelson is a member of MGMA s Health Care Consulting Group. Her experience as a medical office manager and in information technology, combined with her years of consulting to physicians and practice professionals, gives her a unique insight into the needs and challenges facing today s physicians and the future for medical practices.
