Susan Bracaglia Tobey, a former curatorial assistant at the Whitney Museum of American Art and researcher at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, has lovingly compiled 180 pages of mothers and children in art. The abundant full-color images of works, ranging from pre-Columbian stone carvings to Mark Chagall's Pregnant Woman, are accompanied by lively interpretations of each piece in its historical context.
