Prankster of God falls somewhere between sacred literature and a Magic 8-Ball. There is inspiration to be found here and some answers too, but only if the right questions are asked. - The Prankster Prankster of God is a bird s eye view of the priesthood as seen by one who has worked outside of traditional congregational settings, viewing the city as his church and seeking to minister to this congregation of believers and non-believers alike. From his beginnings as a campus leader in the counter-culture movement at the University of Missouri to his later years as chaplain of the historic Pilgrim Chapel in Kansas City, Roger Coleman, by example more than by word, has consistently expanded the understanding of God s community to include the outcast, the doubter and the forgotten. Included here are reflections on some of his experiences - his ministry to mass-murderer Bob Berdella; his involvement with the Ethiopian famine relief effort; and his role in the merging of two churches the first union of an all-white congregation with an all-black congregation in America. Like St. Augustine s Confessions, this is a book about faith but faith discovered through personal relationships and experience rather than scripture and tradition. Dr. Coleman s honesty may alienate, even offend many traditionalists. It will, however, be appreciated by the agnostic, the artist and those who begin their day with more questions than answers.
