About the Author:
Sylvia Bennett-Stone's non-profit agency has successfully provided services for over 6,000 juvenile offenders since 1997. Innovative Approach Foundation is dedicated to providing betterment to communities through training, program, and resource development. While she is yet committed to continue these services, it has become apparent through the rate of gun violence amongst the youth that programs are not enough. This became more apparent when she lost her daughter Krystal Joy Bennett, a 19-year-old, and her best friend Terrin Grier, 17-years-old. Both girls were shot and killed by a single bullet from an AK-47 rifle. Whereas the programs are still viable for teaching youth a way of life, the Word of God combined with non-violence strategies, will teach them how to sustain their life. This has become her primary focus and birth the book Mind Fields- A Healing Journey to Survive the Murder of a Child.
