From Publishers Weekly:
The baby clothes and toys in this book, to be knitted, crocheted or stitched, are exquisite creations that will bring great satisfaction to those who make them. Perrone, a New Mexico needleworker who holds a Swedish graduate degree in decorative needle arts, has an educated eye for design and color, and her instructions are clearly outlined with patterns as well as diagrams and close-up photos showing details. Included here, for the newborn to three-year-old, are a lace-trimmed cotton dress, crocheted overalls, knit sweaters with matching hats, mittens and socks, appliqued quilts and bibs, cross-stitch pillows, samplers and dolls. Additional notes on needlework techniques, enlarging and transferring patterns, laundering and blocking are a helpful bonus. From Library Journal:
This is a book of projects suitable to make for baby showers, or for the expectant mother to make before her baby is born. In addition to clothes, there are patterns and step-by-step instructions for pillows, quilts, and toys. Some designs include embroidery or smocking, while others are knitted or crocheted. Sizes are for babies up to 24 months. This book covers essentially the same ground as Margaret Boyles' Designs for Babies ( LJ 9/1/83), although Perrone's projects appear to be simpler in design with less hand work. Public libraries where the Boyles book or Eleanor Van Zandt's The Complete Book of Babycrafts ( LJ 2/1/82) are popular will want to consider.
