"Dan George, a member of the Co-Salish tribe, was born on the Burrard Reserve in North Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1899. As a child, he lived as his people had always lived, helping his parents to harvest the seafood, the berries and the salmon, preserve it and put it away for winter use. He learned the crafts and traditional ways. Until he was sixteen, he attended St. Paul's Boarding School in North Vancouver, and left to become a logger. Married three years later, he worked as a longshoreman on the Vancouver waterfront and continued until an injury in 1946 made this impossible.". Seller Inventory # 051545
