Grade 7 Up-- Eight "searches" are briefly chaptered: for gold, souls (Indian) to save, a cross-continental river, Mormons for a homeland, minerals, identification of early Americans, water, and--curiously--"search for power" (via development of the atom bomb in New Mexico). It's a good idea that does not come off because of overmuch "once over lightly," occasional misinformation, and hyperbole as in "early explorers rode under giant arches of red rock"--giving the impression that such arches were everywhere.
