From Library Journal:
Beginning in 1975 with Great Architecture of the World (Random), Norwich has helped produce a dramatically successful line of architecture books aimed at the popular market. This volume, the latest in a group that also includes the World Atlas of Architecture (G.K. Hall, 1984), highlights 12 of the world's most splendid residences, from the Potala Palace of the Dalai Lama in Tibet to Louis XIV's Versailles. Like its predecessors, it features large-format presentation, ample illustrative material, and an authoritative, readable text. A special advantage is the large color cutaway drawings that, in displaying altogether the plan, interior, and exterior of buildings, explain in one fell swoop their inner workings, relationships among the rooms, and the relationship of, for example, facade to plan. Highly recommended for all architecture collections, especially in public libraries.
