From Library Journal:
A second action thriller from the author of Lair of the Fox ( LJ 7/89), set in the near future of a changing world order. A Soviet defector, Taras Arensky, is requested by the U.S. President to protect his Soviet counterpart from an assassination plot. Marcus Jolly, an American turned Soviet mercenary, is the known killer. Though once close friends, the two men are now enemies, and Arensky risks all to stop Jolly. Their earlier bond is revealed through flashbacks to their initial meeting and their service in the Soviet/Afghan war. Tension mounts as the true relationship between the two is revealed. Minor complaints are cliched male/female dialog and some inconsistent details. Full of clever plot twists and nervy turns and military/high-tech jargon, this is a satisfying addition to a popular genre.
