While one might assume that a novel set in Nicaragua, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., written by the daughter of Ronald Reagan would offer fresh political insight into American policy in Central America, that is not the case. Deadfall is a repeat of an old story that personalizes frustration encountered with governmental bureaucracy. Davis does not add a new or intriguing twist to this old theme. It meanders along the trail a young woman takes to identify her husband's murderer/s. A great deal of attention is paid to the exercise regimens, jogging, etc., of stereotypical Los Angeles characters. Possibly for light, nonpolitical fiction collections.
