About the Author:
Ken Black is Professor of Decision Sciences in the School of  Business and Public Administration at the University of Houston–Clear Lake. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Graceland College, a Master of Arts in mathematics education from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a Doctor of Philosophy in business administration in management science and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational research from the University of North Texas.
Ken has taught all levels of statistics courses: forecasting, management science, market research and production/ operations management. He has published 15 journal articles, over 20 professional papers and two textbooks: Business statistics: an introductory course and Business statistics: for contemporary decision making. Ken has consulted for many different companies, including Aetna, the City of Houston, NYLCare, AT&T, Johnson Space Center, Southwest Information Resources, Connect Corporation and Eagle Engineering.

John Asafu-Adjaye is an Associate Professor in the School of Economics at The University of Queensland. He obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in agricultural economics from the University of Ghana and then earned a Master of Science in operations research from the Aston Business School, UK. He completed a Doctor of Philosophy in natural resource economics at the University of Alberta.
John teaches business and economic statistics, environmental economics, applied econometrics and inter-industry economic modeling. He has carried out research and provided consultancy services on various economic development and environmental issues in a number of countries including Australia, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Ghana, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and China. He has authored or co-authored over 70 research-based publications, including eight books and monographs, nine book chapters, 49 peer-reviewed journal articles, 10 commissioned reports, and 11 refereed conference proceedings.

Nazim Khan is a Lecturer and Consultant in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at The University of Western Australia. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering in electrical engineering from the University of Western Australia, a Technical Teachers Certifi cate from the Fiji Institute of Teaching, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in mathematics and a Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Western Australia.
Nazim has taught decision theory at the MBA level, fi nancial mathematics, forecasting and statistics. He has published several journal articles. Nazim has consulted for various companies and research groups in his capacity as Consultant with the UWA Statistical Consulting Group.

Nelson Perera is an Associate Professor and Deputy Dean of the Sydney Business School at the University of Wollongong. Nelson earned a Bachelor of Science (fi rst-class honours) from the University of Sri Lanka, a Master of Commerce (honours) from the University of Wollongong and a Doctor of Philosophy in economics from La Trobe University.
Nelson has taught econometrics, forecasting, management science, market research and statistics. He has published 20 journal articles and four book chapters, as well as two computer manuals: MINITAB for commerce and Data analysis with SPSS V.15, 3e. Nelson’s main research interests are in the fi elds of monetary policy, applied econometrics and application of statistics to business areas.

Phillip Edwards is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics at Monash University. He earned a Bachelor of Science (fi rst-class honours) in applied and pure mathematics, a Doctor of Philosophy in mathematics and a Master of Economics in econometrics from Monash University.
Phillip has taught all levels of statistics and econometrics, including statistics for managers at MBA level. He won the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 2005. He has published 20 journal articles and is a Fellow of the Australian Mathematical Society. Phillip’s research interests include hypothesis testing and statistical methods for managers.

Mark Harris is an Associate Professor in the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics at Monash University. Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts (fi rst-class honours) in economics from Sussex University, and both a Graduate Diploma of Economics and a Doctor of Philosophy in econometrics from Monash University. He has taught numerous undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including introductory applied econometrics, economic and business statistics, data modelling and computing, econometrics, applied econometrics, statistics for market researchers, time-series econometrics, applied econometric modelling, and micro-econometrics. Mark has published some 40 journal articles (including contributions to book chapters and monographs), and co-authored the book, Microsimulation modelling of taxation and the labour market: The Melbourne Institute tax and transfer simulator. Mark’s main research interests are in the fi elds of applied econometrics, panel data, and the analysis of cross-section and limited dependent variable data.
