On June 1 1992, Edward A. Malloy, CSC, began his second term as president of the University of Notre Dame. "Culture and Commitment" is a collection of public addresses given during his first term, 1987-1991. During these years, Malloy has used the opportunity afforded him by his position to discuss at length both the state of higher education today, as well as which directions it should take in the future.
