Robin Chotzinoff has always been a rank amateur athlete. From yoga to snowboarding, she's tried it all, yet never found her sporting niche. Resigned to her own lack of calling, she hit the road in search of other not-necessarily-talented-but-incredibly-driven athletes-not the softball or football players, but the people sweating it out in the weird world of sports: spiritual bow hunters, competitive tree climbers, dedicated mall walkers, surfing housewives, and more. Whatever their inspiration, their tales are incredibly entertaining, as is Robin Chotzinoff herself, who after years of "terminal physical mediocrity" finds that it is possible to be athletic without being a good athlete, and whose storytelling abilities are unsurpassed.

About the Author:
Robin Chotzinoff is the author of People with Dirty Hands. A staff writer for Denver's alternative newspaper, Westword, she is also a contributing writer for National Gardening Magazine. Her work has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, Food & Wine, Travel & Leisure, Outside, the Washington Post Sunday Magazine, and many more. She lives with her husband and two daughters in a log cabin near Denver.
Review:
She's got a little Dave Barry, a little Ellen Goodman, a little Marion Winik. -- Los Angeles Times Book Review

Surprisingly, the most interesting parts of the book are not the 'sweaty people' themselves, but Chotzinoff's observations about their pursuits and her own quest. -- Rocky Mountain News
