From Library Journal:
Krich ( One Big Bed , LJ 9/15/86) takes a baseball-oriented tour of Latin America. In mingled English and Spanish he tells of encounters with players, managers, scouts, and fans in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. En route he hobnobs with ex-big leaguers, along with active players. The growing influence of Latins on major league rosters is underlined by the one town that has produced eight shortstops for the majors. As much a travelogue as a sports report, this merits consideration.

From Publishers Weekly:
Krich here embarks on an odyssey to look at baseball in Latin America, beginning in Tijuana. "Although baseball is the unifying theme of this well-written, instructive survey, it is more a travel book, presenting incisive pictures of Mexico, Puerto Rico and Santo Domingo, with less searching looks at Nicaragua and Venezuela," commented PW.
