About the Author:
Michael J. Foxbegan his career as the lovable Alex P. Keaton, the star of the poular sitcomFamily Ties.Since then, his career has been a nonstop success story, with blockbuster movies likeBack to the Future,The Secret of my Success, Doc Hollywood, and the lead voice in Disney'sAtlantis: The Lost Empire. He retired from his award-winning role onSpinCity. Michael has won numerous awards, including four Golden Globes, four Emmys, two Screen Actors Guild awards,GQMan of the Year, and the People's Choice award. He is the author of two books,Lucky ManandAlways Looking Up.

He actively lobbies for stem cell research around the country and is very visible in raising money for Parkinsons research with the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
From AudioFile:
At the beginning of ALWAYS LOOKING UP, Michael J. Fox takes note of the "struts" of his life--work, politics, faith, and family--and explains that his memoir is, in a way, thematic, rather than a chronology of the last 10 years. In a familiar, but somewhat changed, voice he recounts the major shifts in his life, which include leaving his acting career, creating the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, advocating for PD research, and coping with the disease itself, which has been tyrannical of recent years. However, PD is also a source of Fox's optimism--which the listener can clearly hear in his poignant and impassioned delivery. While Fox shares many realities, he also offers hope--which he calls "informed optimism." There's much to be learned and aspire to here. As an audiobook, this memoir will stay with you for a long time. R.F.W. © AudioFile 2009, Portland, Maine

I can't help but catch a glimpse of myself as I pass, and turning myself towards the glass, I consider what I see. This reflected version of myself, wet, shaking, rumpled, slightly stooped, and pinched, would be alarming if it were not for the self-satisfied expression pasted across the face, I would ask the obvious question, 'What are you smiling about?' - but I already know the answer .it just gets better from here.' Struck with Parkinson's - a debilitating, degenerative disease - at the height of his fame, Fox has taken what some people might consider cause for depression and turned it into a beacon of hope for millions. Now, in Always Looking Up, he writes about the personal philosophy that carried him through his darkest hours, and speaks with others who have emerged from difficult periods with optimism to spare. With the humour and wit that dazzled fans and reviewers alike in his bestselling memoir, Lucky Man, Fox shows how he became a happier, more satisfied person by recognising the gifts of everyday life. *** Quantity Available: 1.
