Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. First Edition, First Printing. BRAND NEW Copy w/trace edge rubs to illustrated soft cover. Author signed. First Edition, First Printing. High adventure historical novel based on the fate of the merchant ship Tonquin of the early 19th Century. The ship, used by John Jacob Astor's Pacific Fur Company, had established fur trading outposts on the Northwest Coast, including Fort Astoria at the mouth of the Columbia River. In 1811, while trading fur on board, Captain Thorn evidently "tossed" some otter pelts at the local chieftan; an insult so grave that the natives assaulted the ship. In the face of total annihilation, injured crew member James Lewis blew up the vessel, killing himself as well. The only survivor of the 23 member was a half Chinook and half British pilot of the ship Lamazee (alias Jack, or George, Ramsay). The novel is an adventure/mystery framed arround these extraordinary happenings. Signed by Author(s).

Paperback. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 174 pages. Author's signature upon title page. An adventure mystery - and a tale of horror, a dark 'Kidnapped.' Set in the rich wilderness of the Oregon coastline of the early 1800s, James White's novel has skillfully interwoven fact and conjecture centered on one of the most enigmatic figures in northwestern lore - Jack Ramsay, or "Lamazee." Prior owner's details atop half-title page else unmarked. Light wear. Nice copy. Signed by Author(s).
