Book First Edition
Hard Back. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. This is the 2nd state binding of the 1st printing, meaning the book is 2-3mm taller than the 1st state, the spine writing is silver rather than gold, and the DJ has a Duraseal protector, which was the first to be given the protector as standard, a practice which continued for the following 15 years of the New Naturalist series. The textblock is age toned with some light foxing to the endpapers; otherwise crisp, clean and tightly bound. The binding itself has very light bumping to the top and bottom of the spine and some light spots to the cloth of the boards. The unclipped DJ, priced at 2.50, has a light curl to the top of the front board, a few spots of dirt and the Duraseal protector has a very small section of damage to the top outer corner. The DJ spine colours remain bright and unfaded however there is some very light age toning. [Bernhard and Loe, 2015, Collecting the New Naturalists, NN51B].
Green cloth gilt. In very good dustwrapper, but slightly too short for the book. With numerous photographs in black and white, plans and diagrams. A few spots to top edge, otherwise a very good copy of the First Edition. pp. xx, 364.
