After many brilliant exploits in which he captured of fifty French and Spanish ships, he became a British member of Parliament in 1805. He was tried for fraud (1816) and imprisoned for a year. On his release he served as the Commander of the Chilean Navy, and of the Brazilian Navy. Returning to Europe, he became Commander of the Greek Navy, and reinstated in the British Navy in 1832. With colour frontis illustration, 6 other illustrations, bibliography & index. Previous owner's name to front endpaper. Book in GOOD condition.
