Cloth. Condition: Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Idaho by Paul Evan Lehman was published by The Macaulay Company in 1933. Not an ex-library copy, this 285-page, 78-year-old offering is in just G- condition. I'm thinking this book has undergone many, many readings, and has experienced much general handling. the pages of text have yellowed somewhat over time, as have its endpapers front and back. Webbing is visible between pages 12-13, 30-31, 94-95, and 174-175 of main text. Significant fading/spotting of original gray surface coloring is seen on front cover section, and way, way less so along left-hand edge of back cover section. Also, signature of a previous owner, with the date underneath, is observed on the front loose end page. This is the story of a young, handsome drifter, Idaho, who is making his way to the town of Alder, where he has some very particular business to conduct. A few miles from his destination, he witnesses the holding up of a stagecoach heading for Alder. He tracks the bandit, only to find that he is not more than 15 or 16 years old. Turns out that the young boy's only reason for committing the crime is to procure enough money for a meal. Idaho convinces the boy, mainly by being the calm, cool, and collected hero that he is, to go into Alder with him and return the stolen wallet(containing all of $7.38) to its owner(Idaho will claim that he dared the boy to do what he did, not thinking he'd actually ride down and confront the coach). Idaho and the boy end up being offered jobs as ranch hands on the ranch of one Clint Hollister, WHO JUST HAPPENS TO BE. Idaho's father! You can't wait to find out what happens next, can you, in this slice of Americana from the Depression Era? Thank you!!.
