Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 230 pgs., 8vo. Translated from the French by Richard Howard. A novel written when Giraudoux was nearly 80, about a man and a woman and a love affair. The author suppressed it during his lifetime, presumably due to content taken from his personal life. Though known as a playwright, the author shows prose gifts here that add to his stature. Green boards with sharp gold spine titles, clean endpapers, an unclipped jacket with just a touch of soiling and a 2" open tear on the back panel; overall a nice copy. Very good condition in slightly worn dust jacket.
