Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Paperback Edition. Paperback. Pierce Brosnan. The New Unauthorised Biography. Brosnan's life has been the ultimate rags to riches tale. Born in a small Irish twon in the fifties, he was abandoned by his parents at birth and shunted between various relatives. Ten years later he was uprooted to Londom to live with his mother, where his accent made him a target for bullies, prolonging the difficulties of his childhoods day. But, in the late eighties, Brosnan's life must have seemed complete. He had a beautiful wife and a young family, and in 1982, after years of struggling and small parts, he got his real break with the part of Remington Steele. Hailed as the new Cary Grant, he was a star overnight. The tragedy struck when his beloved wife became ill with cancer. This is the first biography of Pierce Brosnan - the first to uncover his traumatic childhood in Ireland and the heartbreaking story behind his wife's death. Cloth. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition UK. Harback First Edition UK It Ain't as Easy as it Looks: Ted Turner's Amazing Story.Tight spine - Bright pages - Illustrated with photos - 468 pages - Ted Turner, America's maverick billionaire, is best known as the cable television magnate whose uncanny business sense has made CNN more profitable today than any of the three major networks. But Turner's achievements are limitless, and his reputation as a world-class yachtsman, sports impresario, and connoisseur of women is legendary. And his fairy-tale marriage to Jane Fonda has only enhanced his charismatic persona. Turner's competitive instincts are always in play. He has set ocean racing records that will never be equaled, including an impressive America's Cup win in 1977. He bought the Atlanta Braves in 1976 and transformed them from a losing team into National League pennant winners. He has revolutionized the broadcast news industry, in the process rewriting the very definition of news from something that has happened to something that is happening. And he has become a one-man diplomatic corps with access, thanks to CNN's enormous influence, almost anywhere. Incredibly, no one has written the story of this amazing man. Until now. It Ain't as Easy as It Looks cuts through the gossip and folk tales to explore the real Ted Turner - the man who has overcome an abusive childhood and manic depression to accomplish more than even he had thought possible - with the depth, perception, and unflinching honesty that are embodied by the man himself. Cloth. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. Hardcover. First Edition. Spike Milligan. The Family Album. An Illustrated Autobiography. For years Spike Milligan has lovingly collected and collated over a dozen volumes of family photographs and memorabilia, stretching from army liufe and his childhood to his career as an entertainer and the arrival of his own family. Spike has carefully selected scores of these delightful photographs to illustrate the story of his life. Notes in diary form are expanded into anecdotes and reminiscences in Spike's inevitably irreverent style, making light of the major emotional hurdle Spike had to overcome in writing this deeply intimate book. At times touching and sincerely personal, this book includes details of how Spike was plagued by manic depression stemming from his wartime experiences, his traumatic mental breakdown and the collapse of his first marriage, all of which had led him to believe that he could never write an autobiography such as this. Also included, of course, are some of his adventures in showbusiness, from his early days with The Goons and his innovative work on television to his stage appearances and film work. Along the way there are famous friendships with famous friends as diverse as Barry Humphries and the Prince of Wales. Illustrated. 224 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. Hardcover. Glued binding. Paper over boards. xxi, [1], 265, [1] p. Illustrations (some in color). Records. Index. In 2005, Steve Fossett completed the first solo, non-stop, non-refuelled circumnavigation of the world at the helm of the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer. But what makes someone like Steve give up a secure, wellpaid job for the romantic, yet dangerous, world of the adventurer? His adventurous spirit has piqued the intrigue of his fellow competitors and sports aficionados, and attracted the notice of the world. In this dynamic autobiography, Steve Fossett shares his inspirational stories in a personal, intimate voice and candidly recounts the milestones, challenges and victories that have made up his much-heralded career and paved the way to his 109 world records. From Wikipedia: "James Stephen "Steve" Fossett (April 22, 1944 c. September 3, 2007) was an American businessman, and a record-setting aviator, sailor, and adventurer. He was the first person to fly solo nonstop around the world in a balloon. He made his fortune in the financial services industry, and was best known for many world records, including five nonstop circumnavigations of the Earth: as a long-distance solo balloonist, as a sailor, and as a solo flight fixed-wing aircraft pilot. A fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and the Explorers Club, Fossett set 116 records in five different sports, 60 of which still stood when he disappeared. On September 3, 2007, Fossett was reported missing after the plane he was flying over the Great Basin Desert in Nevada failed to return. Despite a month of searches by the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) and others, Fossett could not be found and the search by CAP was called off on October 2, 2007. Privately funded and privately directed search efforts continued, however, but after a request from Fossett's wife, he was declared legally dead on February 15, 2008. On September 29, 2008, a hiker found Fossett's identification cards in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, and the crash site was discovered on October 1, 2008, 65 miles (100 km) due south from Flying-M Ranch where he took off, and 5.3 miles (8.5 km) due west (282 degrees) of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area's base operations, although his remains were not initially found. On November 3, 2008, tests conducted on two bones recovered about one-half mile (0.8 km) from the site of the crash produced a match to Fossett's DNA." Very good in very good dust jacket.
